It’s often because of stored emotional reactions from our past that we haven’t processed—our culture encourages us to push down and ignore messy and inconvenient feelings (and really, just about any feeling can be messy and inconvenient!).

If we don’t process and move through these emotional reactions but instead keep them tucked away out of sight, then the next time we encounter anything that feels similar to the original situation (even if it really isn’t), up come those emotional reactions again, and we feel like nothing ever changes. Tapping helps us process these reactions while keeping a feeling of safety, so that our view of ourselves and the world & its possibilities can be clearer, without the clouds of stress and confused emotions—and full of hope for those possibilities!
